THE CALLY ARTIST'S RESIDENCY
The Cally Artists’ Residency aims to create a workplace open to artsits from all kind of fields, where they could explore and learn new techniques and collaborate with each other in order to reach new design solutions.
The residency would be open to anyone who’s interested in this area and is willing to work in a design collective. It can host 5 artists at a time for a period that goes from 1 month up to 6 months (depending on the project).
The Cally design collective offers a series of open spaces in which the artists will find all the machinery to work with materials such as wood, metal, plastics and casting.
The arstists’ dwelling spaces are located on the top floor, with their own private bedrooms as well as communal spaces, such as the kitchen, terrace and other facilities.
Since the “key word” of this place is collaboration, the building is created in order to let people observe other’s people work. To do so, all the levels are visible from the other floors, thanks to the central void, which links all the spaces from ground to top floor, and the thoughtful system of platforms, located at different heights, and ramps, which encourage this process.
The building’s spaces can also be arranged as exhibition spaces and thanks to its spatial qualities they can offer unique views of the pieces of art created on site.
